A Pint A Day Keeps The Doctor Away | |||||
Studies show beer drunk in moderation is one of healthiest alcoholic drinks available
What could be better to wash away the troubles of life than a refreshing pint, sipped in the comfortable surroundings of your local pub? Even more so when the beer you’re drinking was born and brewed just around the corner in Griffin Brewery. However the dreaded beer belly slowly consuming all that is you, is a dampener on the best of festivities. So for those who fret about their waistlines, worry no more, as recent studies have shown that when drunk in moderation, beer is one of the healthiest alcoholic drinks available for consumption. The study, which was commissioned by the Beer Academy, states that the drink is a great source of minerals, fibre, vitamins and antioxidants, and contrary to popular belief, has rather low calorie content compared to other tipples. A refreshing cold beer can also have a positive physiological effect. It allows us the opportunity to exercise our social skills whilst reducing stress and fatigue; a good way to combat the woes of the day. Local beers such as London Pride, Discovery and Chiswick Bitter are lovingly created using just four main ingredients; hops, malt, yeast and water. In fact an average daily brew of Fuller's flagship ale ‘London Pride’ uses all of 750 barrels of water, 13 tonnes of malt, 110 kilograms of hops and 320 kilograms of yeast. However, before you wake up in the morning and pour a can of your favourite lager onto your Cornflakes, it must be expressed, and I repeat this, that it is better for you when drunk within sensible limits.
