Chicken Cottage Agrees to Reduced Opening Hours
Can still serve until midnight despite neighbours' objections

A recent meeting at the borough Licensing Panel has agreed to extend the opening hours of a fast-food restaurant on Chiswick High Road to midnight despite the objections of its neighbours.
Chicken Cottage, at number 12 close to the junction with Goldhawk Road, agreed to reduce the time it is allowed to operate to finish at 2am rather than 4am Friday to Saturday as originally applied for, an increase from the current closing time of 11pm. On other days, its hours would have been extended to 1am.
The venue had already agreed that deliveries after 11pm would be made by pedal bikes or e-bikes to limit noise.
16 people made objections to the application and three attended the meeting on Thursday 27 February. They opposed the bid on a variety of grounds including concerns about noise, anti-social behaviour and littering.
The police and the council’s licensing team had made no objection to the application.
The objectors said that they weren’t confident in the management of the venue and said that they had video evidence of late opening and that the Chicken Cottage web site had displayed later opening hours before permission had been given.
The Panel said that it could not take this into account as no footage or screenshots had been submitted for them to consider. However, it did limit the opening hours further so that the venue is licensed to open only until midnight every day.
Chicken Cottage was established in 1983 opening its first branch in Wembley and now has 67 outlets. It is majority owned by Malaysian companies including the main investment arm of the State of Terengganu. It serves Halal chicken which blends South Asian and southern US flavours.
