Chiswick mum, Maria Jose Ovalle, has reached the finals of the Mum and Dad (MAD) Awards, a prestigious national awards scheme for parent bloggers in the UK. The MAD Awards, celebrate the best blogs written by British parents.

Mummy’s Busy World (www.mummysbusyworld.com) takes a different approach to parent blogging. In this instance it is written from the point of view of Maria’s two year old son “Little M” and they have made the finals in two categories: Best MAD Blog for Family Fun and Best MAD Blog for Pre-School Fun. Blogging about being his day to day life as a bilingual London (Chilean-American) tot and his very busy and unorganised ‘mami’, Little M gives readers a fresh view of parenting.

Maria started the blog after returning to work in April 2010 after a year off as a way to report to family and friends the funny stories happening to her and her one year old. She says, “One day it just occurred to me that the blog should be from Little M’s point of view. Kids are honest, and even though he couldn’t speak; I thought I would try to explain life as a new parent through his eyes. I am very excited at making the finals, and happy to have discovered blogging which has allowed me to become part of a supportive community”.

More than 3,000 people have already nominated their favourite parent blogs in fifteen different categories with five blogs reaching the finals in each group.

Blog fans now have just four weeks to vote for their favourite blogs at the MAD Blog Awards website www.the-mads.com. The winners of the MAD Blog Awards will be announced in September 2011.
