Friends believe Damon Rawnsley slipped and fell from his houseboat
March 4, 2025 The police have confirmed that a body recovered from the river near Fulham is that of Damon Rawnsley a Chiswick houseboat dweller who had been missing since the night of Sunday 23 February. He was retrieved near Bishops Park by the Chiswick RNLI Lifeboat crew, who operate a short distance from his home, on Thursday (27 February). The police initially issue a missing persons appeal for Mr Rawnsley but his friends and neighbours always believe the most likely explanation for his disappearance was a fall from this boat deck. He had gone out to get coal on what was a stormy evening and one possibility is that he was knocked into the river by a hatch door. His girlfriend, who was on the boat at the time, raised the alarm and the emergency services, as well as the Chiswick Lifeboat had started a search within an hour. Mr Rawnsley had an 18-year-old son. The police are not treating the death as suspicious.
