Ravenscourt Park Preparatory School Appoints New Headteacher

Ravenscourt Park Preparatory School is delighted to announce the appointment of Mr Tim Smith as its new Headteacher, effective from September 2026.

Mr Smith joins Ravenscourt Park Prep from Hampton Preparatory School, where he currently serves as Headmaster. He brings with him a wealth of experience in preparatory education, academic leadership and pastoral care, alongside a deep commitment to child-centred learning and thoughtful school development. Throughout his career, Mr Smith has demonstrated a clear belief in nurturing the whole child while fostering a warm and purposeful school culture.

Mr Smith impressed directors and governors with his clear educational vision, strong alignment with the school’s ethos and his natural rapport with both pupils and staff. Over the coming months, he will work closely with Mr Howes to ensure a smooth and collaborative transition. During this time, he will spend regular periods in school getting to know pupils, staff and families, and gaining a deep understanding of the life of Ravenscourt Park Prep.

Mr Smith is a graduate of the University of Otago and holds a Diploma of Teaching from Christchurch College of Education. He also has an MBA (International) in Educational Leadership from University College London, reflecting his commitment to both educational practice and strategic leadership. In addition, he is an elected Executive Director on the Board of the Independent Association of Preparatory Schools (IAPS), where he plays an active role in supporting and mentoring newly appointed Heads. He is also a qualified school inspector with the Independent Schools’ Inspectorate, bringing significant experience in governance across both independent and state education.

Mr Smith will formally take up his post in September 2026 and will be introduced to the school community at events over the coming terms.
