Chris Calvi-Freeman updates residents on works
Hounslow Council's Head of Transport Chris Calvi-Freeman provides residents with an update on the Turnham Green Traffic and Transport Scheme. Referring the works in the Town Hall area, he told ChiswickW4.com, "Our engineers and contractors will be on site from Saturday morning to complete the improvement works in this area. This involves new kerb lines and footway in front of the town hall and re-laying of the paving in the forecourt. "This work was delayed in January/February due to complications with buried telecommunications cables and was further delayed as a result of the tragic accident that occurred at this site on 23 February. "The works this weekend [20th and 21st March] will have only a minor effect on traffic but will involve the closing of the pelican crossing. Pedestrians will be diverted to cross Heathfield Terrace east of the Town Hall Avenue junction, and will be able to walk through the Green to and from Christ Church and Chiswick High Road. "We hope to make significant progress over the weekend and have the pelican signals operating again early next week. Work will then continue on the footway and forecourt paving, which should take about ten days. "Our resurfacing contractor will resurface the Heathfield Terrace/Town Hall Avenue/Sutton Court Road junction over several evenings, towards the end of April. This will involve road closures from 8pm on several nights. Notices will be displayed prior to this taking place. Following this, we will be able to mark the zebra crossing on Sutton Court Road and complete this scheme." He concluded with an apology for the length of time this process has taken.
