There was major traffic disruption over a large area today following an accident near Mortlake. Long queues developed on the A316 southbound over Chiswick Bridge heading towards both Hogarth roundabout and Kew Bridge.

Transport for London (TfL) said that the A316/A205 was closed near Chalkers Corner following an accident earlier today. (March 27). The road was later cleared.

The current works on Chiswick Bridge, which involved lane closures this week, also added to the rush hour congestion. The traffic flow eased lalter in the day.

Traffic had started queueing around 8.30 a.m. along Hartington Road, up towards Strand on the Green and Kew Bridge.

TfL said that traffic on the A316 southbound to Hogarth roundabout was affected, and the A316 north bound had queues to Richmond.

There was also heavy congestion reported at Barnes at Castelnau and Hammersmith Bridge during the morning.
