Visits William Hogarth Primary to see its new playground
May 10, 2025 It was back to school this week for Hammersmith and Chiswick MP Andy Slaughter as he paid a visit to William Hogarth Primary. He was there to see the fruits of the efforts of parents and staff at the school who had been campaigning and fundraising for years for new adventure playground equipment. A once bare space has now been transformed. Parents from the Friends of The William Hogarth School invited the MP to see the new climbing frames, trim trails and structures for outdoor learning in both playgrounds on Friday (9 May). Headteacher Avril Stockley led a tour of the new facilities, introduced some of the students and explained some of the other projects at the school, including a ‘Secret Garden’ a thriving nature habitat, complete with a pond which will become a Forest School area. She also told Mr Slaughter about the recent celebrations and discussed the strong academic performance of the school. After addressing the school’s Celebration Assembly, in which he told them about his job, and inviting the children to visit Parliament, the MP joined in some special VE Day games with the children and said afterwards, “I ate rationing food made by the children and visited their forest garden project as well as having the honour of speaking at their assembly. I was really impressed by the new play equipment at the school, funded by Hounslow Council, and already very popular with the pupils.”
The school said, “It was a fantastic day for everyone in The William Hogarth School community and we hope to welcome Andy back soon.”
