Former Chiswick School Students Star at Bush Hall Event

Three recent Chiswick School alumni — Harry Robinson, Zion Peace and Henry Battrick — took to the stage at Bush Hall on Tuesday 4 November as part of the Gaudium Events Emerging Talent Musical Showcase, joining just ten other acts chosen from several hundred applicants. The appearance marked a notable moment for the school’s music programme: two of the eleven selected acts were made up of musicians who first played together at Chiswick School, and all three performers trace their musical beginnings to school bands.
Harry, Zion and Henry each followed different paths after leaving Chiswick School but share a common thread in the training they received there. Harry and Henry first played together in The Q, a group started in Year 8 by teacher Zac Moxon, and both subsequently achieved top grades in GCSE Music. The pair have continued their studies at specialist institutions: Henry and Zion are full-time students at the Rhythm Studio, while Harry now studies at the Brit School.
Zion’s progress has been rapid. He only began playing drums two years ago to join The Musketeers, a school band that included Harry, and within a short time had developed the skills to perform at a respected London venue. Henry meanwhile formed the rock band Uncle Dynamite while still at Chiswick School, winning the Hounslow Battle of the Bands with two Year 11 members; after school he kept the group going with Zion on drums and a new bass player from the Rhythm Studio.
At Bush Hall the three alumni split their appearances. Henry and Zion performed a full set with Uncle Dynamite, presenting original rock material written entirely by Henry. Harry performed separately with musicians from the Brit School, delivering original songs that blend blues, pop and rock influences; his set included All That You Are Is Enough, a song he composed for a school friend while still at Chiswick.

Performing at Bush Hall is a milestone for emerging acts; the venue’s history of hosting major artists from Adele to Amy Winehouse gave the evening additional resonance for the young musicians.
Teachers, former bandmates and audience members who attended the show described the performances as confident and polished, reflecting the years of ensemble work and formal study that have shaped each musician’s development.
