Sitting councillors all reselected to contest local election
May 29, 2025 The Liberal Democrats in Ealing borough have announced that they are to retain all three sitting councillors to contest Southfield ward in the next local elections. The constituency, which is predominantly made up of the north of Chiswick has been represented by Cllr Gary Malcolm, who is now leader of the opposition on the council, for the last 23 years. His colleagues Cllr Gary Busuttil has held his seat for 8 years and Cllr Andrew Steed for 12 years. The local team says it is proud to have campaigned for a range of issues including making the area safer by getting the council to reverse its light dimming scheme, working with the local police team so they can focus on crimes residents want fixing and solving a large number of residents issues that they have raised with the councillors. Cllr Malcolm said, "Liberal Democrats in Southfield are proud that we listen to residents and keep fighting for what they want to see for their area. It was great news recently when the Council agreed to install a crossing on Southfield Road to help reduce traffic speeds and road accidents. Liberal Democrats across the borough are fighting to stop Labour’s Children’s centres closures." The local elections are scheduled to take place next May.
