Japanese probiotic drink company takes space in new development April 28, 2026 Yakult UK has officially relocated its London headquarters to Power Road Studios in Chiswick, marking a major milestone as the company enters its 30th year of operations in the UK. The move, completed this month, brings the probiotic drinks manufacturer into the recently developed workspace that used to be home to a BBC production facility. The company has taken a long-term lease on a 3,200 sq ft office within the newly revitalised Power Road Studios campus, part of Feldberg Capital’s Akoya venture. After many years based in West Ruislip, Yakult’s London team now occupies a modern, collaborative workspace designed to support hybrid working. The relocation coincides with a leadership transition at the company. Shinji Yamaguchi has recently been appointed Managing Director of Yakult UK & Ireland, succeeding Hiroaki Yoshimura, who has moved to the Netherlands to become Managing Director of Yakult Europe. The company, which entered the European market in 1993, has played a central role in introducing the concept of gut health to consumers across the region. Mr Yamaguchi described the move as a strategic step forward, “Relocating to Power Road Studios marks an exciting new chapter for Yakult UK operations. The space reflects how we work today: more collaborative, more flexible and better connected. As we celebrate 30 years in the UK, this move demonstrates our continued commitment to growth, innovation and investing in our people and operations in the country.” Power Road Studios was originally a 1930s factory, but the site has been transformed into a creative campus blending industrial character with high-specification modern design. The development includes landscaped courtyards, an on-site café and gym, and a mix of refurbished and newly built office buildings. The centrepiece of the latest phase is Studio 5, a 34,432 sq ft new-build office building designed by award-winning architects Barr Gazetas. The five-storey structure is self-contained and built to some of the highest environmental and technological standards currently achievable in UK commercial real estate.
Rebecca Hore, Associate Director of Asset Management at Feldberg Capital, said Yakult’s arrival reflects the growing demand for high-quality workspace in the area. “Yakult’s decision to relocate to Power Road Studios underlines the strength of demand for high-quality, design-led workspace in well-connected west London locations. Our Studio 5 development delivers new build, high quality office space with ESG at the heart of the design to ensure we are meeting the evolving needs of modern occupiers. We are very excited for Yakult to join our ever-growing campus.” Yakult’s move adds to the growing cluster of global brands choosing Chiswick as a base particularly those based in the nearby Chiswick Business Park. The area has seen sustained investment in recent years, with improved transport links, new commercial developments and a strong mix of creative, media, technology and professional services companies.
