Chiswick Homefields councillor John Todd reports back
March 15, 2025 Covid outbreak - five year post reflection Kelly O’Neill our Director of Public Health was present at the Chiswick Area Forum. I took the opportunity to thank her personally and her staff for their difficult role during the dreadful covid outbreak. So many of us lost family members, friends and colleagues. May they rest in peace 1 Burlington Lane W4 Planning application large block Despite 125 plus objectors including the representative Old Chiswick Preservation Society, Hounslow Council planners are recommending approval for this oversize development. Historic England says in its response to the application, “The large scale, bulk and massing of the proposed development would be entirely out of keeping with its historic surroundings, resulting in a considerable amount of harm to multiple heritage designations, including those of the highest significance. Therefore, Historic England strongly objects to these proposals and recommends that more modest forms of development are pursued for this site which would avoid harmful effects to this exceptionally historic part of Hounslow’ That’s a powerful statement by a respected organisation- completely ignored. Chiswick Mall continued flooding High tides flood parts of Chiswick Mall. The tide drops, ideally the water drains away. It’s now a frequent event for the Mall drainage pipes to block and residents have to wear wellington boots to enter their homes Others pedestrians, school children and cyclists are forced to take alternative routes to avoid this hazard. LBH do eventually attend and resolve but there can be a materially delay in resolution. A KC resident has reminded LBH of their statutory obligation to keep the Mall clear. We are monitoring closely. Cllr Rajawat Council leader declined to attend. Water leak child's bedroom A tenant living in Chiswick Lane reported that since late 2024 his daughter's bedroom had a water leak coming from a property on the floor above His protestations to the landlord were ignored. With the help of our enforcement team access was gained within 24 hours and the leak repaired. Our officers promptly respond and can use related legislation New MOT station Prebend Gardens After nearly two years of tests, planning and exams the scooter/motorcycle shop on the corner of Prebend Gardens has qualified as a MOT station. The time effort and cost was significant and I contributed with modest advice and guidance. Cllr John Todd 07866 784651 DATES FOR YOUR DIARY 2025 Council Meetings - Borough Council
