Rick Stein, the TV chef and restaurateur, who lives in Chiswick part of the year, has also received a CBE, not for his culinary talents but for 'services to the economy'. He recently took over the former Depot restaurant in Barnes and was involved in the former Sam's Brasserie in Chiswick.

He commented: “I am so proud to receive a CBE for Services to the Economy. I think that the hospitality industry, that I so much enjoy working in, is a force for good not only in the UK but everywhere. To be able to travel the world as a British man, fascinated by the food and culture wherever I go and bringing it back home is a dream job, but also reinforces the importance of everyone sitting down and enjoying good food together.”

He will add the honour to the Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE), which he received in the New Year’s Honours List 2003 for services to West Country tourism.

Darcey Bussell, (Strictly Come Dancing judge) who is an alumni of Arts Educational school in Chiswick becomes a Dame. "Thank you everyone for your kind comments. I am truly humbled to receive the honour. I gratefully accept it on behalf of all the dance organisations that I am so fortunate to be part of," she said.

There have also been honours for residents of nearby neighbourhoods.

Subhash Mahajan, of the Friends of Beaversfield Park, has campaigned tirelessly against crime and anti social activities in his area, and is awarded an OBE for services to the community of Hounslow.
