Pete Griffiths sets himself a challenge to raise money for Gambian tennis
On Saturday 17th July Chiswick Tennis Club Coach Pete Griffiths is planning to do 12 straight hours of coaching to raise money for Gambian tennis. In April Pete went to Gambia on holiday and met some of the most lovely people in the world. He played tennis with their top juniors on their National Courts and he had never seen kids so happily sharing courts and equipment. He also met Badou. Badou is the Gambian No.1 tennis player and is going to compete in the Commonwealth games in October. He struggles to get shoes, strings and tennis balls to practice with, his equipment is a mix of borrowed and bought old equipment - but he is a great player and deserves a lot more. Pete is therefore donating his time and skills to coach anyone (members and non members) so he can send Badou and the Gambian Tennis Federation a package of shoes, strings, grips, balls and other equipment. He is coaching from 8am until 8pm with the following slots: 8AM INDIVIDUAL The price for the sessions will be as follows:
If you would like to challenge Pete to a match then he can also do this for £40 - if you play him at the end of the day he will be easier to beat - but good luck - I don't think you will! To book a session please email Pete at: peterofgriffiths@hotmail.com or call or text on 07815 848 971 The venue will be Chiswick Tennis Club on Burlington Lane W4 3EU July 12, 2010
