Chiswick’s much-loved Summer Show returns on Sunday 28 June, bringing with it one of the most colourful days in the local gardening calendar.
Run by the Chiswick Horticultural & Allotments Society, the Show celebrates everything residents grow, bake, photograph and create — whether it’s from a full allotment plot, a balcony pot, or a windowsill herb tray.
With 66 classes spanning flowers, fruit, vegetables, baking, preserves, photography, poetry and children’s entries, the Show is designed for everyone. You don’t need to be an expert, and you don’t need to be a Society member. Each entry costs just 25p, making it one of the most accessible community competitions in west London.
Visitors can expect a full day of activity. Exhibits are staged between 8.30am and 11.30am, judging takes place from 11.30am to 1.30pm, and the Show opens to the public at 1.30pm. A BBQ, teas and homemade cakes will be available from midday, and at 3pm the prizes will be awarded, followed immediately by the traditional auction of produce — a lively highlight that raises funds for the Society.
Volunteers play a huge part in making the Show happen, and new helpers are always welcome. Anyone interested in volunteering or baking a cake for the refreshments stall can contact Judy at shows@growchiswick.org.
The event takes place at the Trading Hut next to the Staveley Road Cemetery and opposite Chiswick School.

Since its foundation in 1915 as the Chiswick Allotment Holders Association, CHAS has promoted the art, science and practice of horticulture. It provides its members with free advice, seeds, bulbs, fertiliser, compost and tools at a lower cost than commercial garden centres and organises shows, talks, tours and events throughout the year.
Membership of the Society is open to everyone, whether they have an allotment, garden or window box.
CHAS holds two shows a year where novices or seasoned gardeners young or old are encouraged to exhibit a range of produce, including their flowers, vegetables, fruit, cakes, chutneys and photos.
