On 18 June 2011, the football tournament MTG United for Peace Cup UK 2011 wil be held at The University of Westminster Sports Ground in Chiswick. This is the second consecutive year that the tournament is being held.

The Cup is played by girls’ U13 teams and is free to enter. During the tournament the girls will also have the chance to meet Becky Spencer and Gilly Flaherty from the Arsenal Ladies senior team.

The first prize is a trip to Oslo, Norway, where the winning team will represent the UK in the international MTG United for Peace Cup Final 2011. There, both girls and boys’ teams from 13 countries will play in the final, which will coincide with the announcement of the Nobel Peace Laureate.

The competition is arranged by MTG in cooperation with the Nobel Peace Center and the Norwegian Red Cross.

“We’re very excited about the MTG United for Peace Cup UK 2011, which we believe will be a fantastic event. The winning team can look forward to an incredible experience in Oslo. Apart from playing football, the children will have the opportunity to meet and become friends with their peers from other countries and backgrounds,” says the UK event’s organiser Jennie Vavik at Viasat Broadcasting.
