The evening came to a rumbustious end with ‘The Saints’ featuring three trumpets, two trombones, one clarinet and four Clancy’s! This six-piece band plays virtually every style of jazz from traditional, mainstream and modern - from Armstrong to Basie. Apart from the hugely experienced Phil on trombone, his son Lester plays trumpet and flugelhorn, Mark Aston is on clarinet, alto, tenor and baritone saxes, Mike Bennett is on double bass and brothers Andrew and David Clancy are on piano / keyboard and drums respectively. Guests include jazz vocalists Diane Slater, Isabel Saunders, Teresa Jennings, Stephan O’Goodson and very occasionally Tim Wacher, trumpeters Chris Hodgkins and Anthony Cox, Pete Clancy (Andrew and David’s dad) on trombone, Steve Clancy on clarinet (the third brother), Dave Alison on baritone sax and many others. The Band were again joined by Dan Guest and his marvellously elegant Lindy Circle Dancers - splendid swing dancing to a great live band. They are very welcome to return whenever they wish. The essions are from 8 - 10.30pm. Entry is free and parking is available and bus routes E3, 190 and 533 pass nearby. The Duck & Ball is a bar, kitchen, and event space located at 12 Riverside Drive in Chiswick (W4 2SP) opposite Dukes Meadows. It occupies the pavilion of Chiswick Cricket Club.
