This year's fundraising interactive calendar goes live

You can now enjoy one of the local treats of Christmas - opening the doors of St Michael & All Angels' online Advent Calendar.

Now in its tenth year, the Advent Calendar helps raise money for the St Michael's Christmas Charities Appeal - "opening doors for people in need".

Simply click the Advent Calendar link and look for today's date under the revolving stars . Then click on it to see the picture, every day up to the 24th.

The works have been created by 24 local artists and will be sold by silent auction, culminating at a party in the Parish Hall in Chiswick on Sunday January 8th 2012 .

The originals can be seen in the beautiful Advent Calendar frame in the church , where you can also buy Christmas cards until December 18th . The artists have generously agreed to donate a third of their income from the auction sales to the Appeal charities:-

• The Upper Room , feeding the community in need in West London
• USPG - Anglicans in World Mission for projects in Namibia and Madagascar
• CEDARS Youth Project in Chiswick

The online Advent Calendar is sponsored by local businesses, including ChiswickW4.com. The vicar of St Michael & All Angels church, Father Kevin Morris, said: "We are very grateful to the artists and local firms for their terrific support. We think this is a wonderful way to celebrate the season and to focus attention on this year's Appeal and worship at St Michael's."

The collections from three of St Michael's Christmas services - Nine Lessons and Carols, the Children's Crib Service and Midnight Mass - will all go to the charities, as will money raised by St Michael's carol singers at Turnham Green tube station and other events.
