Former Conservative MP visits St Nicholas Church
February 5, 2025 The latest in a series of Conversational Evensong’s with invited speakers at St. Nicholas Church is to feature John Greenway. He was the Conservative M.P for Ryedale in North Yorkshire from 1987 to 2010. He served for ten years on the Home Affairs Select Committee during the Thatcher and Major governments. In 2005 he was appointed to the Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly in Strasbourg where he served as Chairman of the Procedure Committee and later the Migration and Refugees Committee. He stood down from Parliament in 2010 when his Ryedale seat disappeared from boundary changes. He will be joining the congregation at 6pm on Sunday 23 February for an evening of relaxed conversation and worship and music, and a chance to find out a little more about John and what inspires and motivates him. Refreshments, as usual, will be served after the service. St Nicholas Church is on Church Street, Chiswick (W4 2PJ).
