The plight of a young flautist whose home, pets , and possessions were destroyed in the August riots, has touched the hearts of the congregation at St. Paul's Church in Grove Park. Carla Rees had her flat burned down in Croydon during the rioting. Her two pet cats perished in the fire along with her musical instruments , and all her possessions. She is now living in a hotel.

A Benefit Concert for Carla will be held at St. Paul's on Sunday ,October 9th, at 7 p.m.featuring a concert of music for piano and flute including works by Bach and Bizet. Admission is free with a collection for Carla afterwards. Musicians featured include Anthony Hewitt on piano, Claire Beard and Pasha Mansurov on flutes. Donations can also be made through the Just Flutes Carla Rees Collection Fund.
