Play by Simon Stephens, writer of The Curious Incident of The Dog in the Night-time
Bluebird, playing at The Tabard Theatre from 5th-30th May was written by Simon Stephens winner of an Olivier award in 2013 for Best New Play for 'The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time'. The play follows Jimmy, a taxi driver doing the night shift in London. The plot centres around the contradictions of city life: brimming with humanity, set against the seediest backdrops. Characters crowd Jimmy's cab telling their stories about losses and fears, revealing a shared and tremendous loneliness. The encounters are filled with frequent laughter, revelations of keenly felt grief, and an ever present hope. Producer Selina Giles talks to The Chiswick Calendar about the play.
