Teletext employee, David Tasker, has been named as the lead fund-raiser for the Yellow Umbrella Day charity event held at Chiswick Business Park in October 2003.

Having raised £600 for the two nominated charities, the Family Holiday Association and Cancer Research UK, David was awarded the prize of a Mediterranean cruise, donated by Cruise Control.

Over 400 people turned up aon Sunday 19th October to support the inaugural Yellow Umbrella Day. Around 200 people participated in the pace’athon (sponsored walk or run) that started from Chiswick Business Park lake and followed designated 5km and 10km routes along the river Thames through Kew and Barnes.

The event raised around £8000 for the designated charities - the Family Holiday Association and Cancer Research UK. Following the success of the inaugural event, Yellow Umbrella Day will become an annual initiative within the Chiswick community and it is hoped it will continue to grow in size and popularity.
