Fostering in Hounslow

More foster carers are desperately needed in the borough of Hounslow to look after children who, for whatever reason, cannot stay with their own families, for periods of time which can range from a weekend to several months. In the first week of September alone, short term places for 32 children needed to be found.

Contrary to popular belief, carers do not have to own their home, be young or married. Children come from all walks of life and so do carers. People who express an interest in foster caring will be carefully assessed and given plenty of information to ensure that they are making an informed choice. It can take up to six months before all the assessments are completed.

Foster carers receive thorough training and are paid a weekly allowance of £228 for children aged 0-10 and £248 for children aged 11-18+. Fostering can be challenging, complex and demanding – therefore all carers are supported by their own Supervising Social Worker.
