The wild meadow at Turnham Green outside Christ Church has become a space of tranquility for many locals. During the recent brief spell of fine weather, children could be seen clambering on the rockery and people stretched out on the grass enjoying the sunshine.

Local photographer Jon Perry has been out and about in the meadow capturing some images of summer. The pictures remind us to stop for a minute and take notice of the natural beauty in the meadow with the church spire in the distance.

The wild meadow was the work of the Friends of Turnham Green who also constructed the rockery in the circular space which is designed to give people some space away from the busy High Road full of traffic and noise. The meadow was the first of a series of planned improvements on Turnham Green led by the Friends of Turnham Green, working in partnership with London Borough of Hounslow, John Laing and sons, Groundwork Thames Valley and Hickman Brothers Landscape. As a result of the new initiatives, The Green was awarded a Green Flag Award for the second year running in 2012.

Jon is involved in the next Chiswick calendar with Ian Wylie. Who knows, perhaps some of his wild meadow images will be included in the calendar which is aimed at raising money for St. Michael and All Angels Church.
