Charity doubled-up on donations and exceeded target
Microfinance charity, MicroLoan Foundation, has exceeded its funding target this Christmas for impoverished women in Malawi and Zambia, with support from money-matching scheme by The Big Give. Donations made to the charity via The Big Give website were doubled for three days last week as part of MicroLoan Foundation’s participation in The Big Give Christmas Challenge. A spokesperson said: "Microloan was actually able to exceed its funding target, achieving an incredible £31,801.25 of raised funding."
Dailess Tambo, who MicroLoan helped to set up a tailoring business MicroLoan Foundation’s Head of Fundraising, Sara Bowcutt, said: “There’s no easy solution for solving global poverty. But small loans, targeted correctly, and teamed with the correct support and training, can make a massive impact. In so doing, MicroLoan Foundation provides invaluable work towards creating long-term, sustainable change in Sub-Saharan Africa, whose countries make up some of the poorest in the world.
