The Power House studios will have sixteen prints on show
Recording studio Metropolis is to host an exhibition featuring Sir Peter Blake’s limited edition Pop Art prints. There will be 16 pieces, ranging from the newly launched ‘American Trilogy’ and ‘Found Art Beatles’ through to iconic album cover work for Paul Weller’s ‘Stanley Road’, Ian Dury and the Blockheads ‘All New Boots and Panties’ and the piece that brought Peter Blake into the national conscience ‘Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Heartclub band’ for The Beatles.
Other pieces are becoming increasingly rare and a collection on this scale is rarely seen. The collection will be on show until the New Year with pieces available for purchase at the Metropolis Exhibition space at 70 Power Road, Chiswick with access on a strictly invitation only basis. The studio described the exhibition as a perfect marriage of iconic British artist with London’s leading music studio. It is the start of a number of events to be held in the studio.
‘Like most people my initial exposure to Peter’s work was through his iconic album cover projects, but his recent collage work together with his pop art and found art pieces are inspirational items and we are extremely thrilled to be able to bring these pieces into the studio,’ says Carla Maroussas From Metropolis. ‘When tasked with bringing prestigious exhibitions to Metropolis, I immediately thought of Sir Peter Blake’s work. The music and art worlds are natural bedfellows and it is an honour to have such fine, striking pieces here at Metropolis. My biggest concern is how do I follow that! ‘ Says Tamsin McLarty, Events Manager at Metropolis. October 31, 2012
