The well-known site of the former Adamou greengrocer's may soon become an Italian restaurant.

It's understood that Rossopomodoro, a Neapolitan pizza/pasta chain which has branches in Fulham Road,Notting Hill, and Covent Garden, may be keen to open on the High Road site. The premises received permission from the Council for a change of use which would allow a restaurant to open there in June.

The chain which launched in the UK in 2006, recently opened a branch in Selfridges and Birmingham and promises to bring the taste of authentic Neapolitan cuisine to London, sourcing its ingredients from Campania .

Rossopomodoro- the name means 'red tomato', is part of the Sebeto group who own the Arema & Cozze restaurants and first opened in Naples in the late 1990s.Reviewer remarks include "good" (Hardens),and "fresh not formulaic"( Time Out). The chain claims to offer a new image of Italian restaurants and say they do not look like traditional pizzerias .

When asked by ChiswickW4.com about the possibility of opening on the site a spokesperson for Rossopomodoro said the were unable to confirm this at present.
