Minis' Rugby Takes off at Chiswick |

New section at Dukes Meadows club off to strong start
Chiswick Rugby Club have been established in Chiswick since 1958, playing every Saturday at Dukes Meadows and has always catered for adults but recent years have seen increasing enquiries from younger age groups. To cater for this, mini rugby squads were established last year, which catered for boys and girls aged 4 to 11 who wished to play. Traditionally, the club let non-rugby clubs have Dukes Meadows to themselves on a Sunday. The launch of minis changed this and the Sunday's mini sessions, starting at 1030 a.m. quickly gained popularity, with all ages well represented and parents staying to watch. This has helped a strong start to the current season, with 30 minis turning up for the first session and numbers are set to grow. Each session is supervised by fully trained, CRB checked coaches and commences with fitness and handling drills. This is then applied with a game of tag rugby which all players participate in. The minis is fast becoming a part of the established sports community of Chiswick and is a fantastic complement to the adult sides.
