World Cup winner Matt Dawson to coach home team in charity fixture
February 3, 2026 In a major celebration of grassroots sport and community, Chiswick RFC has been selected to host the first-ever Tyrwhitt Cup. The event marks a significant milestone for the local club, which will see its players coached by England Rugby icon and World Cup winner Matt Dawson as they take on charity side LooseHeadz on Friday, 20 February. The one-off match coincides with the start of the 2026 Guinness Men’s Six Nations and celebrates the sixth year of the partnership between British menswear brand Charles Tyrwhitt and England Rugby. The evening aims to shine a light on the vital role grassroots clubs play in the community, with Chiswick RFC serving as the central hub for the festivities. Chiswick's selection for the event builds on a growing relationship with Charles Tyrwhitt, which previously transformed the club into the ‘Tyrwhitt Arms’ during the Autumn Nations to reward its dedicated members. This time, the stakes are higher as the local side battles for silverware against a LooseHeadz team led by Bristol Bears’ Max Lahiff. Beyond the action on the pitch, the event aims to deliver a message regarding mental health. A recent study revealed that an astonishing 92% of club players credit rugby with improving their mental wellbeing. The match will support the LooseHeadz Foundation, rugby’s leading mental health charity, which works to place mental health leads in every club worldwide. "Rugby is all about togetherness, camaraderie, and family," says Rob Shotton, Co-Founder of LooseHeadz, who will also be playing in the fixture. The event is free for the public to attend, with pre-match activities starting at 6:00 PM and kick-off scheduled for 7:00 PM. Residents and rugby fans alike are encouraged to head down to Chiswick RFC to support their local team and celebrate the start of the Six Nations. The game kicks off at 7pm and entry is free with members of the public welcome.
