Kate Driscoll, Chiswick local for over a decade who co-owns a legal recruitment business in W4, was at an impasse. Two estate agencies and almost two years later, her duplex apartment overlooking Chiswick High Road hadn't sold. She gambled on a third agent - Paul Cooney, Director of Horton and Garton's Chiswick sales team - who successfully sold her apartment and also sourced her new family home in Gunnersbury. We sat down with Kate to ask what she thinks of Paul's service. 

Q: How long was your property on the market before you decided to try Horton and Garton?

A: My property was on and off the market from September 2015. I had previously used two other agencies. 

Q: Why did you decide to list your home with Horton and Garton?

A: I decided to list with Paul because having opened his new office only one month before we launched our apartment with him, I knew he was keen. He was raring to go, had something to prove and was hungry to work for me. I now know this is how he approaches every client. You only need to meet Paul to realise how enthusiastically and wholeheartedly he works for his clients and his properties. 

Q: What differentiated Paul? What did he offer that other agents were lacking?

A: I'd say two things on what sets Paul apart. With Paul, I had clear, transparent communication on a daily basis. I received immediate communication after every single viewing so we knew exactly what was happening. He was honest and up front about the buyers' positions. He worked very closely with me and the solicitors to move the sale along and push it over the finish line. His professional advice was invaluable. Because we were kept in the loop every step of the way, we always knew what was needed from our end to keep things moving. His working relationship with everyone involved was excellent and his transparency was key to this success. I never had to chase him, not once. He was always in touch and never unreachable. Secondly, and very simply, he goes above and beyond. He's so proactive. He really couldn't have done any more for us. 

Q: How did you find your family home in Gunnersbury?

A: Paul got to know us very well not just as sellers but also as buyers. As a result, when he valued the house on Thorney Hedge Road he knew immediately it was the perfect fit for our family. It ticked every box. I viewed it and then brought my husband Andy to see it. We have different perspectives when it comes to what we're looking for from our forever home and it met every requirement. The matchmaking was superb. He negotiated the sale of the house for us off-market and we will complete on our house exactly a year after our apartment on the High Road came to the market with Horton and Garton - an impressive time frame from listing Chalet Driscoll to moving in to Château Driscoll.
