The union say the strike is necessary to prevent ticket office closures which they believe compromise safety.

A second strike is due to take place from 9pm on Monday May 5. This strike action will take place ahead of a May Day event in memory of former RMT leader Bob Crow, who died of a suspected heart attack on March 11, aged 52. The event will also be in remembrance of Tony Benn, the politician and campaigner who died several days after Mr Crow.
