Hammersmith, Barons Court, Earls Court, White City, Turnham Green and Shepherd's Bush tube stations are to open round the clock at weekends from next year.

Transport for London will run trains all night on four underground lines from September 12, 2015.

Both the Piccadilly and Central lines, which run through Hammersmith & Fulham borough, will be open all night on Fridays and Saturdays, with the Northern, Jubilee and Victoria lines also operating 24 hours.

The all-night tube operation will dovetail with existing 24-hour night bus routes, with a train promised on average every 10 minutes or less.

" It opens up London’s night-time economy to a whole host of new opportunities," says a spokesman for TfL, adding that an estimated 1,965 new, permanent jobs will be created in the process.

It will also make it simpler and cheaper for west Londoners to get to Heathrow at weekends to catch early morning flights.
