Hounslow residents who fancy themselves as a budding Sir Bradley Wiggins or Victoria Pendleton will have the chance to join the Prudential RideLondon FreeCycle this Saturday (3 August), an eight-mile traffic-free circuit around central London.

To make it even easier to get there, a guided ride will be leaving from Hounslow Civic Centre via Market Place, Brentford, before taking cyclists through west London to join the FreeCycle route.  Anyone who wants to join should meet at the Civic Centre in Lampton Road at 9.15am and the Market Place in Brentford at 10am on Saturday.

Cllr Colin Ellar, deputy leader and cabinet member for environment, said: “This is a brilliant opportunity for the whole family to join around 50, 000 riders in an eight-mile circuit which will take in some iconic London landmarks.”

If you want to join the guided ride, email hounslowcycling@lcc.org.uk.

The RideLondon cycling festival takes place over the whole weekend, and Hounslow will host thousands of professional and amateur cyclists passing through Chiswick on Sunday 4 August for the Prudential RideLondon Classic and Surrey 100 respectively.

Hounslow Council has entered its own team – The Hounslow Wheelers – which will take part inthe Business Relay section of Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 100 – the same course which Sir Bradley Wiggins followed at last year’s Olympics.

Residents are also urged to check for road closures and parking restrictions along the route, and traffic disruption is expected throughout the day.
