Many of us make a New Year’s resolution to stop drinking, smoking , eat healthier or get fitter but often fall by the wayside by mid-January.

But help is at hand thanks to Hounslow Council, which is running a campaign to help people stick to their New Year Resolution.

Cllr Sachin Gupta, cabinet member for public health and leisure, who himself has resolved to get fitter, said: “It’s easy making a New Year’s resolution but a lot harder sticking to it.

“I myself am looking to taking more exercise, so helping to promote this scheme is very timely. It means though that I now need to walk the walk and not just talk the talk!”

The campaign features residents signing up to a New Year’s resolution on the four areas:
• Stop drinking (Try the Dry January challenge)
• Healthy Eating (specifically sugar swaps)
• Be more physically active
• Stop smoking
In addition, those who sign up will receive support, hints and help to keep to their resolutions.
