The Olympic Cycling Road Race takes place this weekend starting in The Mall in London and running out through south-west London to Box Hill in Surrey before returning to The Mall.

Although the route does not pass through the borough of Hounslow, there are warnings that the disruption in south-west London may have a knock-on effect and the authorities are advising people to check details carefully.

Details of the route

The A3 and the M25 will not be affected as the cycle route passes over or under these roads.

Traffic will not be allowed to cross the route while the races are taking place, and there will be a period before and after the races for the installation and removal of barriers and signage.

For residents who are planning to watch the events, a list of stations along the route can be found at http://www.getaheadofthegames.com/travelinaffectedareas/surrey-road-race.html
