Time for more than just a Spring clean?

As we finally start to see some sunshine in W4 and the first blossoms appear on the trees, it’s suddenly starting to feel like Spring… and as is often the case this time of year, the housing market is starting to get busy!

For the first time in quite a while, buyers and sellers are being told there are no nasty surprises on the budget horizon, while mortgage rates are starting to become more competitive. So now is not a bad time to move home.

But if you’re looking at marketing your home for potential buyers, before you take photos or start viewings, remember to first try and see your property with fresh eyes. That torn bit of wallpaper you stopped noticing? That bit of grout you can never reach in the bathroom? Maybe an old patch of dried-out damp you never got around to repainting? These are all things that you might not notice, but can seriously impact a buyer’s first impressions.

So in a still-competitive market, Spring is the perfect time not just to declutter and clean, but to refresh your whole property. There is no better time to sort out all those little niggles: blocked drains, scuffed wallpaper, or broken cupboard doors. Most issues can be solved with a bit of spare time and some basic DIY, but even larger projects – new tiles, repainting rooms, a professional carpet clean, new fitted cupboards – will all put value on your home and give you a quicker sale, with the profit more than making up for the cost.

And what if you’re not quite ready to sell, or indeed have no intention of moving for the foreseeable? With the longer, brighter days and the energy they bring, Spring is still the perfect time to refresh your property. After all, our homes are usually the greatest asset we have, so it’s always worth maintaining its value… or adding more. Now would be a great time to look at that new kitchen you’d always wanted, extend into the loft, or put in that ensuite!
