Local restaurant Chella closed this week and the premises will become a Spanish restaurant, La Mancha.

The Putney branch of La Mancha has now closed after twenty-three years in the area and the restaurant has announced that it will re-open in Chiswick.

Staff at Chella, which served Persian food, said they closed the restaurant to the public on Monday. The front windows have been covered with paper. One member of staff thanked local people for their support over the years they had been in business.

Chella Restaurant was first opened in Tehran 50 years ago by the father of one of the owners of the Chiswick restaurant.

La Mancha had its base in Putney High Street and has been described in a Top Table review as; "A dramatic, bustling bar and brasserie with a first class reputation in Spanish tapas and Iberian cuisine. La Mancha offers terrific, authentic food, a brilliant drinks menu and fine, friendly service". Harden's restaurant guide has praised its tapas selection and efficient service.

While La Mancha offers a large selection of tapas it also has a main course menu of Spanish dishes, including paella. The restaurant also has a wine and cocktail bar.

Another change to the High Road may be the demise of the East women's boutique. Staff at East in Chiswick have been told the branch is earmarked for closure but as yet there is no date specified.
