A 53-year-old man has been charged with the murder of Roy Barber after a stabbing incident which took place on Saturday 4 February on Barrowgate Road. 

Lesley Maynard, of Barrowgate Road appeared in custody at Richmond Magistrates Court on Monday 6 February where he was formally charged with the murder of 62-year-old Roy Barber. 

Police launched a murder investigation after Mr Barber was found found suffering from multiple stab wounds at a care home at 78 Barrowgate Road. 

First aid was given at the scene by the attending paramedics, but Mr Barber was pronounced dead at 5.20pm. The police sealed off Barrowgate Road and several police vehicles including a helicopter attended the scene.

Lesley Maynard was arrested on suspicion of the murder at the scene and was taken to a west London police station.
