Thieves are targeting expensive Windsor Lanterns from conservation areas in Chiswick. The incidents have continued since this was first reported on ChiswickW4.com. The latest theft on Welsted Way on Thursday night brings to 14 the number of these fittings that have been stolen in the Bath Road area.

These thefts have been carried out possibly using a ‘Cherry Picker’ vehicle (a lorry or van with a mobile platform - see picture left) to remove these lanterns. The actual times these thefts are carried out is not yet known.

If you do see any suspicious activity please call the police and inform them of any details. Description of vehicle, and Vehicle Registration number, plus any company markings.

The London Borough of Hounslow do have operatives out on emergency calls but they would have the L. B. Hounslow markings and the following Fleet No.s 4801 , 4802, 4901.

Oliver Rainsford Public Lighting Supervisor said, "L.B. Hounslow working hours are 07:00 to 15:30 Monday – Friday, plus occasional out of hours working on Saturdays and Sundays. Vehicles operating outside of these hours are suspect."
