A man was repeatedly punched in the head during a violent attempted robbery close to The Riverside Health Club.

The incident happened on Saturday 13th September at 5.15pm as the victim and his partner, both in their 60’s, walked along the pathway in Riverside Drive.

The suspect attacked the victim from behind, punching him repeatedly in the head demanding his watch. The victim refused and attempted to fight the suspect off.

The fled the scene empty handed in the direction of the bridge.

Other witnesses claim to have seen the suspect with another male a short while before the attack, sitting near Barnes Bridge. One of the suspects has been arrested, however, police appealing for further witnesses to the incident to assist with their enquiry.

The suspect is described as a black male, aged approximately 15 years, 5’7” of stocky build, wearing a grey hooded top and a black baseball cap.
