A local Police officer proved there's no such thing as being off duty after he paused between courses to apprehend a man.

The off-duty police officer was dining with his partner at Café Rouge on Strand on the Green on Tuesday 5th May when he spotted a man whom he suspected was drinking and driving.

After a struggle, the officer and his partner managed to restrain the man and arrest him on suspicion of driving whilst unfit through drink or drugs.

With the assistance of fellow officers, the man was taken to a local police station where he was found to be over the drink drive limit.

37 year old Putney resident Alex Morton was charged with driving whilst unfit through drink and Assault on Police. He will appear at Feltham Magistrates Court on 14th May.
