A Chiswick business used software to track the usage of a stolen laptop.

The Sony Vaio laptop belonging to Evosquare based in Fishers Lane's Swan Centre, was stolen back in April this year.

However the company had installed a programmed called Evoforesight which enabled them to monitor remotely all keystrokes made on the hardware.

Evosquare kept a log of the use of the computer following the theft and were able to gain information about the person using it.

Once this information was given to Police, a search warrant for the suspect's address was obtained.

The laptop was not recovered however the occupant, Miss Terri Vary was arrested on suspicion of handling stolen goods.

The White City Estate resident was subsequently charged with the offence and pleaded guilty in court last week. Miss Vary received a sentence of 7 months imprisonment suspended for 2 years and a Community Sentence which means she must carry out unpaid work for 120 hours before 29th November 2010.
