Local police have warned residents to be on their guard about potential 'distraction' burglars who may be operating in the area.

Police have warned about a suspicious vehicle which circulated in the area on 8 October and may have been seen again.

On 7 October at about 5pm a white male, 5' 11" of thin build called at an address in Chiswick stating he was a tree surgeon. He was invited into the garden to give a quote, which was very competitive. The householder then questioned the male about the tree names, but he couldn't answer any questions which aroused suspicion as he purported to be a tree surgeon.

The householder recognised his vehicle, a Volkswagen Crafter, white in colour, with had ladders on the roof. A vehicle of this description was seen by police delivering leaflets to properties in Hounslow earlier that day.

"This may be the same vehicle and could be a legitimate business" say police, "but is also the method used to distract victims whilst others steal from houses."

If you have any information on the above vehicle, please call 101 to make Police aware or alternatively you can contact CRIME STOPPERS anonymously on 0800 555 111. In an emergency, always call 999.
