An elderly woman has died after falling over on a bus it was pulling up to a stop on Chiswick High Road this Tuesday afternoon (18 August).

The 77-year-old woman was travelling westbound on an E3 bus at around 1.35pm when it is believed she fell near to the junction with Duke Road and suffered a head injury.

An air ambulance was called and landed on Turnham Green with the bus being moved along the High Road to be closer to move the victim. She was unconscious at this point and was transferred to hospital but died shortly before 5pm. Her next of kin have been informed.

Chiswick High Road was closed for much of the day between the junction with Acton Lane and Duke Road.

Detectives from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit at Merton are carrying out enquiries into the circumstances of the incident. The driver of the bus is assisting police. There have been no arrests.
