Police are investigating reports that an unauthorised contractor has cut down a tree in Homefield Road.

A large Gleditsia tree in the road was felled on Sunday, (Dec 13), to the concern of several residents, who reported the incident.

The police and council say they are concerned about the safety implications of a bogus contractor coming into the borough and felling such a large tree, as it can put residents at risk.

A police spokesman in Chiswick said the investigation was being conducted by officers attached to the local authority policing team.

The Gleditsia is often known as the honey locust, or thorny locust and has distinctive yellow autumn leaves.
