Construction of the new water play area on Dukes Meadows made an exciting advance this week when a large pouring machine turned up on site to start pouring the concrete for the pool tank.

Over the last few weeks the mounds that will surround the pool were created and construction of the kiosk began.

At the end of April 140 volunteers from Timberland helped to plant the 2000 shrubs donated by Stanhope PLC and to tidy Promenade Approach and paint the entrance gates, ready for the pool opening at the end of July. CiP have planted 35 trees also donated by Stanhope.

Friends Trustee Paul Allen said “The construction of the pool is the culmination of 5 years work by local people. We are all very proud of what our community has achieved and very grateful to all the people who have helped us. It will be a great resource for local families.”

The expected drought restrictions should not affect the pool, as they will not apply to public pools.
