New shorter hours for controlled parking zone 'R' are to come into effect on 1st September.

After the residents of zone R (which includes Southfield, Hatfield, Brookfield and Clovelly Roads) in north Chiswick were consulted twice it was decided to implement the new hours of operation. Over 60% of residents were in favour of the new hours.

The changes will mean that the zone will be in operation between 9am - 10am and 3pm to 4pm, Monday to Friday. The cost of the annual permit will be reduced from £80 to £50 and the maximum daily charge for visitor’s vouchers will be only £1.50 compared to £4.50.

Those residents who have bought an £80 permit will have an opportunity to gain a rebate for paying the higher charge, however it is understood that an administration charge will be levied by Ealing Council to cover the costs of refunds via either cheques or credit cards.

Councillor Gary Malcolm said: “The consultation process took longer than we expected but we are pleased that finally Zone R residents will enjoy cheaper permits to park their cars. In addition residents will pay less for visitor's vouchers so it will be less of a burden when friends, relatives and those working on your home visit.”

It is believed that residents of other parking zones in the area are considering asking to be consulted on shorter hours for their local CPZ.
