Roadworks have commenced on Chiswick High Road at the junction with Heathfield Terrace. The location of the repair has necessitated the closure of the eastbound carriageway. The road is closed between Heathfield Terrace and the top of Fishers Lane.

According to the contractors Cappagh the works are to install a manhole to allow better access to the utilities below. There have been a series of collapses in the sewarage system in the area so the improved access will allow better monitoring. The work was scheduled to finish by the Bank Holiday weekend but seems to have overun.

A temporary diversion has been established via Belmont Road, Dolman Road and Fishers Lane. To ease traffic flow the section of Belmont Road between Chiswick High Road and Dolman Road is one-way northbound..

The two lane approach for westbound traffic has been reduced to one lane past the works area. The traffic signals at the junction remain operational which retains the pedestrian crossing facilities apart from the one to the east of the junction.

The last time we visited the site (early afternoon) there were no significant traffic problems but the works might cause delay in the evening rush.
