The appointment was announced by the Board of Governors in a letter to parents this week. Jill Coughlan, the current Interim Headteacher at Chiswick, will continue for the current term.

Philip Masterson told Chiswickw4.com that he was very excited about his new role.

He has been Deputy Headteacher at Villiers High School for over ten years and has worked in the Borough of Ealing for over twenty years. He is a winner of Ealing's Pride In Our People Education Award.

A graduate of Nottingham Trent University with a BA (Hons) in Literature and Language he is a co-author of ASK: How To Teach Learning To Learn In The Secondary School

The Chair of the Board of Governors of Chiswick School, Mr. Nicholas Lee, said in his letter to parents,"Philip is currently the Interim Headteacher at Villiers High School in Southall and so brings with him significant leadership experience from both this position and his previous role there as Senior Deputy Head. Villiers High School is a similar school to Chiswick in terms of size and diversity and is rated as Good in all areas following its most recent Ofsted inspection in April 2015.

"Jill Coughlan will continue in her role as Interim Headteacher for the current term but will liaise closely with Philip during this period to ensure that a smooth transition takes place in September 2017.

"We firmly believe that this appointment will enable us to consolidate further the progress that has been made to date in addressing the issues raised by Ofsted in November 2015. This progress has clearly been confirmed by the subsequent monitoring visits that have taken place. As a school, we are absolutely focused on ensuring that we are in the best possible position to deliver the highest quality of education to all of our students."

Philip Masterson replaces Tony Ryan who left the position as Headteacher of Chiswick School last year.
