A number of events in the Chiswick area have been cancelled this Sunday (9 February) due to concern about stormy weather.

Storm Ciara is due to hit west London at around midday and gusts of over 50mph are predicted by the Met Office in the area.

The organisers of the Dukes Meadows Food Market have cancelled their regular weekly event as they say the gazebos would be unsafe in such weather. They plan to be back next week as normal.

Chiswick House and gardens will be closed to the public all day. The Trust which manages the grounds say they will be reassessing the situation on Monday morning before making a decision as to whether they should reopen or not. Previous storms have cause considerable damage in the park.

Gunnersbury Park will also be closed for the day.

The Met Office have warned about the following:

• Flying debris could lead to Injuries or danger to life
• Some damage to buildings, such as tiles blown from roofs expected
• Longer journey times and cancellations, as road, rail, air and ferry services affected
• Some roads and bridges closed

Please send details of any storm related disruption to editor@chiswickw4.com.
